Product Description

With its 1920 x 1080 resolution, the HD panel on Panasonic plasmas displays beautiful images without having to perform pixel conversion for the 1080p video signals processed by the video circuitry. Because super-high resolution is best appreciated on a large screen, Panasonic offers the 1080p HD panel in 50 inch and larger models. These dazzling images can be further enjoyed with the stunning detail and beauty of a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player.Movie images are some of the most difficult for TV displays to reproduce. By working closely with movie studios for many years and applying research by the Panasonic Hollywood Lab, Studio Reference Mode on Panasonic plasma TVs enables the replication of colors that was originally intended by the director - exactly the way they are seen on reference monitors in professional film editing rooms.Pro-Setting Mode offers the precise, highly detailed adjustment of image quality to suit personal preferences. Just the touch of a button on the remote executes setting adjustments such as tint, brightness, contour emphasis, gamma compensation and black expansion, which would otherwise require the use of special equipment to accomplish.EZ Sync HDAVI Control lets you operate all of your home theater components by pressing a single button on your TV’s remote control.GalleryPlayer allows you to enjoy the world’s finest high definition art and photography on your Panasonic HD plasma TV. Use the free GalleryPlayer software to purchase and download the images you like, and then play them on your Panasonic HDTV right from your PC. Sign-up is easy and free. Plus, you get a free collection of high definition images to enjoy right away in your home or office.Share your JPEG photos taken with a Lumix digital camera on your Panasonic plasma using the built-in SD card slot. Simply insert the SD card, which is about the size of a postage stamp, into the SD slot on the TV and enjoy a photo slideshow with Photo Viewer.

Customer Reviews

Stunning Display5
I sold my 5 year old Pioneer Elite 50″ Plasma to my Son, and bought this Plasma for $2100 from Wearedeals. It was sold as remanufactured (which for me is a plus). The display is absolutely top notch, especially after some fine tuning thanks to [...]. Here is the link: [..]
As far as anyone commenting on the speakers on this unit, what’s up with that? If you shell out thousands for a display, I assume you also have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround receiver. I mean why even bother getting this display if you don’t. Go ahead and pony up the extra cash and create a real home theater. If you do it right, it will absolutely blow away any theater you go to.
Anyone who already has this display, go ahead and try the adjustments from [...]. The display truly comes to life, and is not over saturated or blown out.
Both this display and wearedeals are highly recommended.

Maybe and Mybe Not3
When installed and connected to a DirecTV Receiver (HR-20 700 HD-DVR): The top showed a jagged white line when set to the “Aspect” called “Full” - The ONLY ASPECT choice to look at the picture witout distortion. Changed from HDMI to Component with no results. Finally changed the DirecTV receiver with the identical HR-20 from another room. It worked — FOR A WHILE, Then the white staggared white line at the toP re-appeared. The next morning,TODAY, I turned THE TV on and the jagged white line is gone - so far. It has worked for 8 hours without the white line at the top. I don’t know what to make of this but I have a 30 days reurn policy from Ultimate Electronics in Denver. They have been cooperativE - so far. Anyone have any comments?

Man, what a set !!5
I’ve had the 58″ set up and running for a couple of weeks and could not be any happier. All the good things you’ve read about it are true. It’s big, it’s heavy, and it is the best plasma on the market.

I had a hard choice between this plasma TV and the XBR5 Sony LCD. Either would have been great. I’m glad I went with the larger plasma, no regrets. I watch a lot of sports and movies, and this one is the best.

One of the main reasons I choose this Panasonic over other TV’s, is a feature that the manufacturers don’t also talk about, but I feel is extremely important. That is the ‘finish’ on the TV’s screen, gloss or matte. The gloss finish on most plasmas is real bad, and you can be distracted by objects relected on the screen. The matte finish on most LCD’s is great. This Panasonic is somewhere in the middle, and very acceptable.I understand that the 2008 model of their 58″ plasma is even more matte. I would not have waited any longer when I bought this TH-58PZ50U model, it is fantastic. Buy one or two!

Product Description
With its 2008 Panasonic Viera Plasmas, Panasonic brings an astonishing 1,000,000:1 contrast ration to the table. advanced pixel resolution and image-processing technology with the plasma TV’s natural ability to beautifully reproduce fast moving images, so every detail is rendered with amazing clarity, and all the action is delivered with a high degree of fluidity.

One Sheet of Glass Design
Beautiful, elegant, and functional — a single pane of glass covers the entire front of the television, including the bezel. This design reduces or eliminates the “halo” effect that can occur around lettering and logos with traditional 3-pane designs

Amazing color reproduction
The incredible black reproduction of a Panasonic High-Definition Plasma TV results in impressive contrast and beautiful, natural colors. So you’ll get warm, accurate skin tones, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds. For color that’s as rich and bold as life itself, look to a Panasonic Plasma TV.

Consistent brightness from any angle
A Panasonic Plasma combines anti-glare and anti-reflection technology with the natural light-emitting properties of plasma, to give you a super-wide viewing range with a crisp, beautiful image from almost any angle

Smooth, graceful motion
When you’re watching sports or movies with fast-motion graphics, you want a TV that can keep up with the action. With over 900 lines of moving picture, self-illuminating plasma displays eliminate afterimages in fast-action scenes. So whether you’re watching a sporting event or an action-packed movie, you’ll always get the most impressive viewing experience possible.

24p native reproduction
Movies are shot at 24 frames per second. Unfortunately, TVs operating at 60Hz can only refresh 20 times per second, which means they must drop every fifth frame. With its 2008 Viera PZ85, PZ800, and PZ850 models, Panasonic introduces 24p native resolution, which means 24 frame per second movie content is reproduced frame for frame exactly, making for true-to-source smoothness of motion.

1,000,000:1 Contrast
The Panasonic’s Real Black system (a pre-discharge suppression system) and improved panel production processes combine to reproduce outstanding blacks with superb contrast. Each image is richly expressive, from bright scense, like scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Compare the image produced by conventional HDTV on the left to the Real Black image produced on the right

Long Life
Panasonic plasma panels are rated to last 100,000 hours, which is about 30 years of regular or 11 years of non-stop usage before the brightness of the display is halved.

Get Full HD with Blu-Ray Disc Players
A Panasonic 1080p plasma television is able to render 1920×1080 pixels, but standard DVDs have a resolution of just 720×480. Blu-ray discs output true 1080p High-Definition resolution and have a storage capacity ten times greater than standard DVDs, so no pixel gos to waste.
